Let’s ask the models: What makes you beautiful?

In Beauty, Edgy, Fashion photography, Fashion Week on September 27, 2012 at 11:56 pm

The beauty of virtually connecting with people in the fashion industry worldwide is, that I never run out of interesting material that I can share with you. I hope that – like that –  I can add value and inspiration to your all day life.

A lot of people talk about diets or ask how models stay toned and  healthy looking. A lot of my friends want to know what they can do for beautiful skin for example. Julia Lang, Media Relations Co-ordinator of the Vancouver Fashion Week, was so kind  to interview five models for my blog, and ask them what their daily beauty routine is. Who could answer all your beauty and diet related questions better than those, whose job it is to look their best?

See what they said and enjoy the backstage photo report from Vancouver Fashion Week SS 13:

1)    What is your daily beauty routine?

  1. I wash my face and keep my skin moisturized
  2. Wash, tone, moisturize
  3. Clarins exfoliating wash and moisturizer
  4. Exfoliate with coffee grinds, face wash, moistrurizer
  5. Shower, exfoliate, hair care

2)    Since when are you modeling?

  1. 3 years (since I was 14)
  2. 3 years
  3. April 2012
  4. Since I was 15
  5. Since I was 18

3)    What is your diet made of?

  1. I just eat as healthy as I can
  2. Whole wheat bread, lentil, salads, vegetables
  3. Lean proteins, veggies, no fast food
  4. Very little red meat
  5. Chicken, fish, rice

4)    What makes Vancouver Fashion Week so special?

  1. It`s cool seeing the whole design team and hanging out with the other models
  2. Representing local designers
  3. First time doing it, international designers
  4. Home city, meeting new designers
  5. Hang out with friends, make new connections

Hmm, exfoliating with coffee grinds sounds interesting to me… With winter being just around the corner here in Austria, I will definitely have to come up with something more suited for the colder time of the year.

What is your daily beauty routine?

xox, the Flamboyante

  1. Love those models! For me Fresh water, a gentle cleanser, and my favourite day cream with SPF 😀 I’m ready to go!

    • Yes me too, they all look cute and healthy. SPF is a good idea 😉 Oh- and water – so important! (telling myself!)

  2. What a great post! I agree totally on the healthy eating! Gotta try the coffee grind skincare routine:)
    kristysamone.com

    • Thank you, Kristy – yes it sounds interesting, perhaps the cafeine boosts circulation and the result would be a rosy glow…maybe I should try too;)

  3. I’ve heard the coffee grounds thing before, it is supposed to give a nice glow

  4. I wash , exfoliate and moisturize and drink water daily. Great for the skin.

    • These are the three steps to beautiful skin, definitely. I also add a Vitamin C mask or Glycolic acid mask once a week and treat myself to a facial when I can afford it.

  5. Good tips! Thx!

  6. I drink lots of water (no juice or soda), change clean pillowcases, rinse my face several times a day (coincide w/ reapplying sunscreen).

  7. This is really nice! Great tips…eating healthy is so important! It shows on your skin and even health.

I love the fact that they are all so relatable and healthy looking…Gorgeous ladies 🙂

    • Thank you! These models really are relatable, perhaps they may not be complete pros, but maybe the trend is now going more towards that type of model? I’m thrilled to see where the trend goes in future…

      • Hmmmm..it would be awesome to if the trend is moving towards these types of models! How cool will that be? But knowing the fashion industry; i kinda doubt it…lol

In any case, whether pro or not they are absolutely gorgeous 🙂

        • Yes 🙂 to me all the models are gorgeous – these and the pro ones – I think what could, should and may change is that the industrie is ‘mixing’ models rather than stereotyping them – it would appear to more women – but then again I think actresses, who are very diverse and who we see in many ads and magazines are already doing it.

  8. My daily beauty routine takes about 1 hour lol – and includes some physical jerks, shower, body exfoliating with brush, firming cream for thighs and butt with a 10-minutes massage, foot and hand cream, as for the face, it’s cleanser, toner, moisturizer, eye cream, lip balm, lash growth treatment, serum or scrub / facial mask is optional… on the days when I wash my hair, it even takes longer, haha, I just love to look my best 🙂 what about diet, I have been a rawfoodist for 6 months and now I see a lot of improvement in my skin so I’m gonna keep this diet.

    • That’s pretty cool – yes it sounds like you’re an expert. I lived strictly vegetarian for three years and the same on this end here – my over all well being increased. I’m finding it very important though – with any diet in fact – to take supplements such as omega oils, flax seed – you probably are taking them too…?

  9. I really like this post 🙂

  10. I like that none of the models said that they do anything drastically unhealthy with their diets. I feel like there is enough negative influence on female weight in society as it is, and it’s nice that none of them talked about cutting portion size or not eating the day before a show or anything like that.

  11. great post! ♥

  12. My daily beauty routine consists of showering and while under the shower I use a gentle facial cleanser and moisturizer afterwards. I wash my hair every second day and sometimes use a conditioner. My skin doesn’t dry out very often and when it does, it’s usually only on my hands, elbows, neck and legs (where I shave) and then I apply some body lotion on those areas. I don’t have any special beauty tricks. :p

  13. I have always wondered how models are for real and this has given me a small inkling into it cos I know that regardless of what part of the world they are in they really are the same.
Thank you for the interview and for sharing with us.

  15. Such an interesting post! Thanks for sharing 🙂

  16. My beauty routine is not very complicated, peeling once a week, daily cream, and sometimes a night cream if my skin is drier than usual. 🙂 Simple 🙂

  17. I love the pictures and this article too!

  18. I love taking care of the skin, creams, excercise and plenty of rest and water.

  19. thank you for such a post…this is pretty informative
